Rest time before the show storm

Despite Aberdeen making news headlines world wide for the record breaking LACK of sunshine and the obscene amount of rain, MAA has enjoyed the peace and quiet rest bite after a very busy Christmas period.

I have been able to take a step back, have a think about how I want my 2026 to look and set some goals.

Goal No.1 - Put on a showstopper of a show to display new collection…. which drumroll please ….. is called Horizons (name idea is from Fintan my creative director). I will be showcasing this unseen (and yet to be painted) collection in the summer so I best get to it! Invites are designed and (mainly) posted out to everyone. If you are interested and haven’t received an invite drop me a message! It will be in the Glasgow area FYI.

I have started getting sketches and ideas to paper but my main thoughts are that I hope to have 12 great pieces so that is the aim for now. I want it to be a collection of landscape paintings that represent something or mean something to me. For example, I can’t create a collection and not have a piece that is a nod to the city I originally came to study art in. I certainly can’t release my first collection without a painting of my favourite place in the world … Arran!

So there’s your sneak peek into my current thought process for my first ever collection!

Asides from the collection, a goal for 2026 is to get stocked in a local shop. I love supporting small businesses, particularly in our area and would love to stick some prints or cards in one of the small shops.

The beauty of being an artist is being able to produce a present out of materials at home. Please see below the first date spot painting that I gifted my boyfriend this year for Valetine’s Day (yes I painted this the morning of).
